Back To Main Menu. Martin Griff/The Times Princeton High's Christina Rosca, shown in action earlier this season, won two matches Saturday to advance to the NJSIAA singles semifinals.WEST WINDSOR – Being a little “under the weather” wasn’t going to stop Christina Rosca from performing at her best level possible Saturday. Rosca, a freshman from Princeton High, defeated both of her opponents in the NJSIAA girls’ tennis singles tournament underway at Mercer County Park.“I think I played pretty well,” said Rosca, who defeated Ania Krawiac of Bishop Eustace, 6-2, 6-4, in the quarterfinal round and Amanda Lanciano of Haddonfield, 6-7 (3), 6-1 (10-8), in the fourth round.
“I could have played better.”. Rosca, who placed second in the recent Mercer County Tournament, takes on Lexi Borr of Westfield in Sunday’s semifinals, which start at 9 a.m. At the same site. The final is Tuesday.“I played just well enough to win in both matches,” Rosca said. “I’ve been sick the past week and I didn’t really get to practice.“I had to calm myself down and not get angry with myself.
I lost my first set to Amanda. It was definitely a challenge. In my second match, I made a couple more errors than I would have liked.”Meanwhile, Sanjana Ravi and Angela Li of West Windsor-Plainsboro South won two matches to stay alive in the doubles portion of the tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals.
Ravi and Li defeated Maddie Cahill-Sanidar and Rory Lewis of Princeton, 7-6 (2), 6-2; and Adel Boyanski and Lauren Romisher of Cherry Hill East, 6-2, 6-1.“We’re really happy,” said WW-P South coach Carla Crawbuck. “We lost twice to Princeton (this season) so this was a nice win for my girls today.”In other matches involving Times-area players, Sneha Rangu of Hightstown lost her fourth-round contest to Madison Stevens of Pingry, 6-1, 6-1.Marcy Vanderbei and Emily Roeper of Montgomery defeated Avanti Kavi and Kaylyn Kavi of Bridgewater-Raritan, 6-2, 6-4, and Lauren Byrket and Tiffany Huang of Holmdel, 7-6 (5), 6-4 to stay alive in the tournament.
